Abbey Road

This Grade II-listed Georgian villa in St John’s Wood, once a 19th-century hunting lodge, has been reimagined as a refined yet welcoming family home for an international family of five. The design balances heritage and modernity, preserving period details while introducing thoughtful architectural interventions to enhance light, flow, and functionality.

Key living spaces include a dramatic formal reception and dining room, crowned with ornate cornicing, hammered glass and brushed brass chandeliers, and a bespoke mirror-backed bar.

The kitchen opens onto a landscaped garden with dining, BBQ, and lounge areas, designed for relaxed summer living. A cocoon-like cinema room, layered in rich blue tones, offers a tailored retreat for the family’s teenage sons, whose bedrooms were each individually designed to reflect their personalities.

The hallway features an unusual bespoke abstract stair runner in blue tones with a plush silk feel, tying the scheme together and complementing the home’s understated glamour. Upstairs, the principal suite exudes quiet luxury with a wave-shaped velvet headboard, bold-veined marble, brushed brass accents, and linen-textured cabinetry. Lutron lighting runs throughout, enhancing atmosphere and functionality. Bespoke joinery and curated pieces – Persian rugs, patterned tiles, and antiques – reflect the family’s heritage, creating a home that is as warm and personal as it is timeless and sophisticated.

We recently worked with Project London on the renovation of our home, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish.

Maisie and Marcelina were a dream team to work with. They were organised, communicative, friendly and truly committed to delivering quality results, while listening to our needs and concerns every step of the way. They kept the project on schedule, handled every detail with professionalism, and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. The final result exceeded our expectations, and we couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. We highly recommend Project London!

Mr and Mrs S - Client, Abbey Road

The challenge was to take a property of real grandeur and history (one of the oldest homes in St John’s Wood!) and make it work seamlessly for the everyday life of a busy family with teenage children.

Balancing listed status with modern living needs was no small task, but working so closely with such an engaged client made the process both fun and deeply rewarding. The result is a home that retains its elegance yet feels warm, welcoming and entirely personal to the family who live there.
