What Do the Wealthiest Want? : A PrimeResi Journal and LPF Feature
Bringing together 32 leading voices from across luxury property, the report asks a simple question: what are the world’s wealthiest clients actually looking for now?
For us, the answer is increasingly less about how a home looks on paper, and much more about how it supports the life being lived inside it.
As Jonathan explains in the report:
“The definition of luxury has reoriented around life rather than lifestyle.”
We’re seeing this shift first-hand. Clients are thinking more carefully about wellbeing, natural light, air quality, movement, recovery and rest. A gym alone is no longer enough. The whole home needs to work harder for the people living in it.
Sustainability is also moving firmly into the mainstream. Solar installations and heat pump systems are becoming considerations on almost every brief, rather than optional additions. As Jonathan notes, this is something we’ve seen recently on one of our projects in Marylebone.
But perhaps the most interesting theme running through the report is that luxury is becoming quieter.
There is less emphasis on creating a home that makes an impression, and more on creating one that works exceptionally well. That means thoughtful design, considered technology, strong infrastructure and a team that understands how all of those elements need to come together.
It also means recognising that time is one of the most valuable things a client has. The report highlights a growing preference for homes that can be delivered efficiently and used sooner, rather than projects that simply become bigger or more elaborate.
For us, this reinforces something we have always believed: good residential design is about far more than the finished image. It is about making the entire process clearer, more considered and ultimately more useful to the client.
And increasingly, that is what luxury looks like.
