Project London quoted in The Telegraph on 2026 interior trends

We’re delighted to share that Project London has been featured in The Telegraph and London Magazine’s 2026 interior trends round-up, spotlighting one of the most compelling developments in design this year: material drenching.

The trend report explores how creatives and designers are pushing beyond traditional colour palettes and decorative accents to create spaces that truly feel cohesive and immersive. Among the ideas gaining traction is a technique that takes colour drenching a step further, material drenching, and that’s where Project London’s perspective really shines.

Material drenching, expanding the trend

Material drenching elevates the immersive strategy of colour drenching by applying a single material across multiple surfaces. Rather than limiting a material to an accent or a focal point, designers layer it across walls, cabinetry and furniture to create unity, depth and a strong sense of atmosphere throughout a space The Telegraph.

As Marcelina Janiszewska, Head of Interior Design at Project London, explains in the feature:

“This is one of the most effective ways to create cohesion and character, while limiting the palette ensures the space remains striking without overwhelming.”

She goes on to note that material drenching works particularly well in areas where sensory experience matters most,  such as dressing rooms, cinema rooms and bathrooms,  spaces where continuity of material heightens both comfort and drama.

Why it matters for interiors in 2026

Material drenching captures a subtle but meaningful shift in how designers are thinking about homes today. Instead of decorating in a purely visual way,  through standalone pieces or contrasting colours,  this approach champions texture, tactility and material presence as central to a room’s identity. It’s about creating spaces that feel intimately connected, where every surface contributes to a harmonious whole.

This philosophy aligns with Project London’s own design ethos: thoughtful layering, refined detail and a focus on how spaces feel to live in, not just how they look.

Being featured in such a respected trends piece is an exciting moment for our studio, reaffirming our belief that the most memorable interiors are those where material, mood and meaningful design come together effortlessly.
