This five storey Victorian townhouse in Notting Hill presented an opportunity to rethink expectations. Rather than lean into the area’s typical colourful aesthetic, we chose a quieter, more tactile approach, layering natural materials, bespoke joinery and a restrained palette to create a home grounded in calm and longevity. The result is a space that feels considered, architectural and deeply personal.

Notting Hill is often associated with bold façades and vibrant interiors. For this project, we deliberately moved in a different direction. We focused on materiality, proportion and craftsmanship, allowing the architecture to lead the experience of the home.

As our design team shared, the property is a “Victorian townhouse, characteristic of the grand residential architecture for which Notting Hill is known”, and our ambition was to preserve that architectural integrity while introducing a more contemporary, refined sensibility throughout the five storeys.

Natural timber, textured stone and bespoke detailing create a sense of cohesion across the home. Each floor unfolds intentionally, balancing openness with intimacy, and ensuring the space evolves with how the client lives.

Craftsmanship played a central role throughout the project, with bespoke joinery delivered in collaboration with Cor Domi. Every element was designed to feel integrated, not applied, allowing materials and detailing to shape the character of the home.

At Project London, we believe bespoke design should feel effortless. This approach informed every decision, from spatial planning to joinery detailing, ensuring the finished home feels cohesive, calm and timeless.

As we often say, our focus is always on how a client moves through their home, how they gather, store and unwind, and translating that into architecture and interiors that feel intuitive and enduring.

This project reflects our wider philosophy: designing homes that feel grounded, personal and built for the long term. Rather than follow trends, we prioritise proportion, natural materials and carefully considered detailing.

The Vogue Living feature captures this approach beautifully, highlighting a home shaped by quiet confidence, thoughtful design and a deep respect for architecture.

We are proud to see this project recognised internationally and grateful to our clients and collaborators who helped bring it to life.
